MTQ mental toughness assessment

Mental toughness is the way we respond to challenges, pressure, change, and situations that demand our commitment.

Description of the assessment and development session

Mental toughness influences how we interpret difficulties, make decisions, deal with uncertainty, and bounce back after setbacks. It affects both day-to-day functioning and situations where pressure, change, or overload test our resources.

The MTQ mental toughness assessment is a standardised psychometric questionnaire that helps you better understand your individual mental toughness profile. It is based on the 4Cs model, covering four areas: Control, Commitment, Challenge, and Confidence.

Completing the questionnaire is just the beginning. The development session is a one-to-one meeting where we discuss your assessment results together and look at what they mean in the context of your professional or personal situation. We identify resources you can consciously draw upon and areas worth strengthening.

The aim is neither to judge nor to label, but to gain a better understanding of how you function and apply this insight to everyday situations.

Who is it for

The assessment is for people who:

  • want to better understand their reactions to stress, pressure, and challenges;
  • hold leadership roles or work in a demanding environment;
  • are facing a professional or personal change;
  • want to develop self-confidence and a sense of impact;
  • want to cope better with uncertainty and difficulties;
  • plan to consciously develop their mental toughness;
  • want to better understand their resources and areas needing support.

Outcomes of the assessment and development session

  • Deeper self-knowledge — you will understand your mental toughness profile and your individual way of responding to challenges.
  • Awareness of your own resources — you will identify the areas that help you act effectively under pressure.
  • Identifying growth areas — you will discover which components of mental toughness are worth strengthening.
  • Practical guidance — you will receive development recommendations tailored to your profile.
  • Making better use of your potential — you will learn to draw on your resources more consciously at work and in your personal life.
  • An individual direction for future work — you will identify specific actions to support the development of mental toughness.

The MTQ assessment is neither a clinical diagnosis nor a judgement of personal worth. It is a tool to support self-awareness and development planning.
