Colour energies and Jungian preferences
13 December 2016

Time for a quick summary: where do the colour energies come from?!
- A colour energy is a style of functioning that can manifest in 4 distinct ways.
- Colour energies are rooted in C.G. Jung's theory of psychological types.
- Each colour energy is a combination of two different Jungian preferences:
Blue energy – INTROVERSION AND THINKING – striving for accuracy and objectivity, attention to detail, processes, and systems.
Green energy – INTROVERSION AND FEELING – focus on building relationships, empathy, maintaining harmony and calm.
Yellow energy – EXTRAVERSION AND FEELING – connecting with others quickly, openness, focus on action and new projects.
Red energy – EXTRAVERSION AND THINKING – goal-oriented, fast pace of action, competitiveness, and high drive.
In his work “Psychological Types”, Dr Carl Gustav Jung posits that people have different preferences, which is why they can perceive the exact same situations from completely different perspectives. Perception is shaped not only by knowledge, experience, attitude, or mood, but also by your preferred style of functioning. It determines how you respond to everyday challenges, what your needs are, what matters to you, and what motivates you.
This insight can be exceptionally valuable for organisations in the context of leadership, motivation, managing change, and fostering innovation.
