Somatic Experiencing®
Somatic Experiencing® helps you better understand your body’s responses to difficult experiences and gradually regain a greater sense of safety and ease in everyday life.
Description of a Somatic Experiencing® session

In Somatic Experiencing®, we pay attention to signals from the body, physical sensations, emotions, and impulses to act. Instead of focusing solely on talking about difficult events, we learn to notice the body’s reactions and approach them with mindfulness, at a pace tailored to individual capacity.
An essential element of this approach is gradually developing the ability to stay connected with yourself, recognise your boundaries, and regain flexibility in responding to stress.
Sessions are held individually, and their frequency and course are tailored to the person's needs and capacity. The work unfolds gradually, honouring the client’s sense of safety, readiness, and pace.
Who is it for
Somatic Experiencing® can be helpful for people who:
- are experiencing chronic stress, tension, or overwhelm;
- notice that their body remains in a constant state of readiness, anxiety, or arousal;
- find it difficult to relax, rest, or regain balance after stressful situations;
- experience physical sensations accompanying difficult emotions;
- have experienced situations beyond their coping capacity;
- want to better understand their reactions and build greater body awareness;
- are looking for a gentle, gradual approach to working with difficult experiences.
Outcomes of our work
Working with the Somatic Experiencing® approach can support you in:
- a better understanding of bodily reactions — noticing signs of tension, arousal, and overload.
- Developing self-regulation skills — discovering ways to support returning to balance after stress.
- Increasing a sense of safety — building a greater capacity to stay connected with yourself and your environment.
- Recognising your own boundaries — noticing your body's signals, needs, and capacities more clearly.
- Increasing response flexibility — developing greater freedom in responding to everyday challenges.
- Deepening connection with the body — gaining a better understanding of the link between physical sensations, emotions, and behaviour.
The process unfolds individually. The goal is not to eliminate all stress responses, but to develop greater nervous system flexibility and the ability to return to balance after challenging experiences.
