Jungian Preferences
19 October 2016

Today we explore Jungian preferences and Carl Jung, whose theory became the foundation of the Insights Discovery™ methodology.
Carl Gustav Jung (1875–1961) was a Swiss psychologist, psychiatrist, and scientist who travelled across the globe to understand human nature. He embarked on research expeditions to North Africa, Arizona, New Mexico, and India. He studied psychology, philosophy, and Eastern religions, and acted as a European commentator on philosophical and meditative traditions originating in India, China, and Japan.
Based on his extensive research and observations, Jung formulated the theory of psychological types, which are founded on 3 preference dimensions:
– INTROVERSION – EXTRAVERSION – attitude/orientation
– THINKING – FEELING – rational functions
– SENSATION – INTUITION – irrational functions
Jung assumed that people have different preferences, which leads them to perceive situations and people in distinct ways. Understanding these differences can directly enhance communication and elevate the quality of relationships, thereby supporting the development of teams and entire organisations.
Success today largely depends on how well you can communicate with others.
Jung’s theory helps you understand personality differences and supports a deeper insight into the needs and motivations arising from these preferences.
“The meeting of two personalities is like the contact of two chemical substances: if there is any reaction, both are transformed.” Carl Gustav Jung
We will dedicate a separate post to each of these preferences :) Keep an eye on our website! ;)
